Industrial Prospect Activity
The year 2001 was an exciting year for the county. We have
several industrial prospects considering the county for their start-up
operation and expansions. A significant amount of effort was provided by the
staff of the OCEDC in order to try to bring new industry into the county
over the course of the year.
As a result of the former Stylecraft facility being empty, a series of
marketing efforts were undergone in order to find a tenant for the 14,800
square foot facility. Availability adds were placed in five large area
newspapers for which no responses occurred. A special recruitment ad was
developed and directly mailed to Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Omaha, and
Minneapolis realtors offering them a $1,000 finder fee for a tenant or
possible buyer for our facility. No responses were received.
The Sibley Industrial Park facility was shown to several local businesses (Exopack,
Merricks, Conveyor Company, Veracity Communications, Inc) for possible
expansions.
While strong interest was expressed no action to occupy the facility took
place.
The Sibley Industrial Park facility was included in several direct incentive
offering packages to incite interest in such companies to relocate or expand
in our County The to companies contacted were the following:
Rexam Containers
Rock Island Tie and Timber Company
Durawood Treatment Company
Veracity Communications, Inc.
Wick Building Systems, Inc.
